Old world charm
The shop-houses and buildings that line this Street have architectural characteristics typical of the late 19th and early 20th century.
Before this area was zoned as the Little India Conservation Area (Historic Districts), no developments were allowed. Most of the buildings & shop houses retained its original characteristics & its colorful facades.
Mayo Inn occupies the second & third storey of a Pre-War Building, completed in 1935. During the initial stage, the second & third storey comprise of four apartments, which is used as residence while the two ground floor units were used for commercial purposes.
In the early 1990s, plans were approved for the Conversion of the building to an inn with a Food Court on the ground floor. In 1995, Mayo Inn started operations as a 15-rooms Inn.
